Fast Food Alternatives: They do Exist

There’s no debating how diabetes and obesity has tremendously increased in children. According to David Zinczenko, this is due to the unhealthy products found in fast food meals and the unavailability of healthy alternatives. In Zinczenko’s article, “Don’t Blame the Eater” it states that fast food chains have made it their priority to accommodate to the innocence of children, with commercials and toys aiming to seek the attention of young customers. It also generally states that fast food restaurants have taken over modern society and that you’re more likely to come upon a McDonald’s than a grocery store.
When it comes to one’s health, it is easier to put blame on anything but one’s own actions. Although fast food has become a big part of our society, there are ways around pulling up to a drive-thru window. It is easy to become distracted by the delicious, cheap food taunting your taste buds, but if you look beyond those golden arches you’re bound to find at least one healthy alternative. Perhaps a grocery store, a health foods store, or even a nice sit-down restaurant that serves homemade meals. Although these alternatives seem undesirable in comparison, they are out there and available for those who are willing to make the right choice for their health.
